We're Green

As you probably know, these are critical times for the state of our planet. This is why, now more than ever, green initiatives play a key role in our future. At RoofCARE, along with using energy efficient and green roofing materials, we are doing our part for this movement in several ways:

• We don’t throw your old roof in a landfill
  Contractors that replace roofs dump the old roof (tons of material) in a landfill. We make use of these existing roofs that usually have plenty of life left.

• Energy Savings
  The U.S. Secretary of Energy, Dr. Steven Chu, is a huge advocate of white roofs and what they do for our environment and utility bills.

  He states,

  "If 85% of air-conditioned roofs in the U.S. had white roofs, our country would save
  $735 Million per year."
  
  

  "You can save 15% in energy costs just by
  having a white roof."
  

  Example: With our Renovation Service, on a 40,000 sq ft roof, we can save our customers $5,900 in energy costs per year.
  
  

• Favorable Albedo Effect
  Albedo refers to a measure of how much of the Sun's energy is reflected off an object back out to space, compared to how much is trapped in Earth's atmosphere.
  
  Snow, ice and white roofs have a high albedo and reflect more of the Sun's energy back to space, which has a cooling effect on the Earth.
  Example: On the same 40,000 sq ft building, over 10 years, our renovated roof will reduce the greenhouse effect to the equivalent of taking 23 cars off the road or planting 3,300 trees.
  
  
• Saving Petroleum
  About 23% of our country's petroleum is used to make industrial chemicals and consumer products, which includes common roofing materials such as asphalt.
